When Will House Take Up H.R. 2309? Post Office Closing Commission Flawed!

Over the past few weeks, there has been heated speculation about the date on which H.R. 2309 will be scheduled for floor action by the House of Representatives. After all, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee approved the measure in October 2011, and the Senate passed its version of postal relief, S. 1789, in mid-April. Last weekend, postal subcommittee chair Dennis Ross (R-FL) Twittered that the date for floor consideration may be as early as July 11; however, his Twitt was followed a few days later by House GOP leadership that the bill was still being worked on and that no date had been set. Specifically, NAPUS has taken an aggressive stance opposing the creation of a new postal bureaucracy tasked with closing post offices.  In the latest edition of the eNAPUS Legislative & Political Bulletin, also read about pending postal appropriations legislation and a recent Senate confirmation hearing for two US Postal Service Board of Governors nominees.
