NAPUS President Rapoza Briefed on USPS 5 Year Business Plan
Postmaster Pay Talks Continue as February 29 Deadline Approaches.
Today, NAPUS President Bob Rapoza joined with other key stakeholders, as postal officials briefed organizational leaders on the Postal Service’s 5 Year Business Plan. Termed, the “Plan to Profitability,” the USPS’s original plan to make operational and efficiency improvements, will now contain additional actions to ensure viability and self-sufficiency. Postal officials cited the combined impact of electronic diversion combined with a weak economy and increased funding obligations as reasons to broaden the range of actions proposed in the plan.
There has been an increased frequency of meetings on Postmaster pay talks between the presidents of the two Postmaster organizations (NAPUS and League) and top postal leaders. Participating in recent meetings with the Postmaster organization presidents were Postmaster General, Patrick Donahoe and Chief Operating Officer, Megan Brennan. While details cannot be released until pay talks conclude, we are hopeful that the current pay talk’s consultative process will provide the best possible results for Postmasters. Information concerning the pay talks will be posted on the NAPUS website as soon as it becomes available.
